Virginia High School Basketball - Monticello holds off Covenant

February 1, 2023: Charlottesville, VA 22902

Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Monticello Mustangs (Charlottesville, VA) and the host Covenant Eagles (Charlottesville, VA), saw Monticello's basketball squad hold off Covenant by a tally of 59-54.

With the victory, Monticello improves its record to 5-14 on the campaign. The Mustangs host Charlottesville (Charlottesville, VA) to confront the Black Knights in a Jefferson challenge on Friday, February 3. The Black Knights come into the challenge with a record of 9-9. Charlottesville lost 60-57 in their recent league challenge against Fluvanna County (Palmyra, VA)

Next up, the Eagles confront the Stuart Hall Dragons (Staunton, VA) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, February 3. Covenant will attempt to improve on its 1-17 season record. The Dragons come into the challenge with a 3-6 record after their 56-37 non-league loss to Fork Union Military Academy (Fork Union, VA).
