Virginia High School Basketball - Fleming bested by George Wythe
February 1, 2025: Roanoke, VA 24017 George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) supporters left the game happy Saturday as they observed their basketball squad achieve victory over the host Fleming Colonels (Roanoke, VA), 71-59 in a non-league test.
Next, the Maroons encounter the Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA) in a Mountain Empire test, on Monday, February 3. George Wythe will attempt to improve on its 14-4 season record. The Maroon Tide come into the test with a 1-10 record after their 61-40 league loss to Bland County (Rocky Gap, VA).
The Colonels (11-8) will now prepare for their test against Lord Botetourt (Daleville, VA). The Cavaliers come into the Blue Ridge test with a 8-10 record. In their last test, Lord Botetourt was knocked off by North Cross (Roanoke, VA), 80-78, in a non-league test.
