Rhode Island High School Basketball - Smithfield can't hold off Central
February 1, 2025: Esmond, RI 02917 Central Knights (Providence, RI) supporters left the game happy Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the host Smithfield Sentinels (Esmond, RI), 61-56 in a non-league match.
With the victory, Central advances its record to 3-9 on the year. The Knights travel to East Providence (East Providence, RI) to face the Townies in a non-league match on Sunday, February 2. The Townies enter the match with a record of 14-1.
The Sentinels now own a 9-8 record. They put it on the line next when they host Cumberland for a non-league match on Tuesday, February 4.
