Michigan High School Basketball - Mellen can't hold off Johnston
February 12, 2024: Bessemer, MI 49911 The Johnston Speedboys basketball team scored 58 points and held the visiting Mellen Granite Diggers to 55 in the Speedboys non-league triumph on Monday.
The Speedboys now sport a 6-10 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Wright for a Freelance contest on Tuesday, February 13. Johnston will battle a Red Devils team coming off a 69-57 non-league loss to Ewen-Trout Creek (Ewen, MI). The Red Devils record now stands at 11-7.
The Granite Diggers (8-12) will now prepare for their contest against Mercer (Mercer, WI). The Tigers enter the Northern Lights contest with a 2-16 record. In their last contest, Mercer was nudged by Solon Springs (Solon Springs, WI), 114-40, in a league contest.
