The Newport Central Catholic Thoroughbreds basketball team scored 68 points and held the visiting Ryle Raiders to 66 in the Thoroughbreds non-league triumph on Monday.

The Thoroughbreds now sport a 9-16 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Covington Catholic for a non-league contest on Wednesday, February 16. Newport Central Catholic will battle a Colonels team coming off a 76-56 non-league win over Conner (Hebron, KY). The Colonels record now stands at 20-4.

The Raiders (12-18) will now prepare for their contest against Bishop Brossart (Alexandria, KY). The Mustangs enter the non-league contest with a 9-16 record. In their last contest, Bishop Brossart nudged Lewis County (Vanceburg, KY), 71-37, in a non-league contest.
