Mercedes Tigers (Mercedes, TX) supporters left the game pleased Friday as they saw their softball squad nudge the visiting Veterans Memorial Chargers (Brownsville, TX), 3-2 in a non-league game.

With the triumph, Mercedes improves its record to 5-1 on the year. The Tigers travel to Weslaco East (Weslaco, TX) to play the Wildcats in a 5A Region IV District 32 game on Tuesday, February 18. The Wildcats enter the game with a record of 3-0. Weslaco East won 5-3 in their recent non-league game against Rio Hondo (Rio Hondo, TX)

The Chargers now hold a 3-2 record. They play next when they travel to Rio Hondo for a non-league game on Friday, February 14. Veterans Memorial will play a Bobcats squad coming off a 10-3 non-league loss to Harlingen (Harlingen, TX). The Bobcats record now stands at 0-2.
