The Mt. Vernon Rams (Mt. Vernon, IL) basketball edged the visiting Althoff Catholic Crusaders (Belleville, IL), 48-42 in Wednesday's non-league bout.

The Rams now possess a 21-7 record. They play next when they travel to Marion for a South Seven bout on Friday, February 20. Mt. Vernon will play a Wildcats team coming off a 56-47 non-league win over Herrin (Herrin, IL). The Wildcats record now stands at 15-11.

With the loss, Althoff Catholic falls to 12-15 on the campaign. The Crusaders travel to Sparta (Sparta, IL) to play the Bulldogs in a non-league bout on Friday, February 20. The Bulldogs come into the test with a record of 26-4. Sparta won 88-63 in their recent league test against Red Bud (Red Bud, IL)
