Fans at Friday's non-league challenge between the Hopkinton Hawks (Contoocook, NH) and the host Newport Tigers (Newport, NH), saw Hopkinton's basketball squad hold off Newport by a count of 48-43.

With the victory, Hopkinton upgrades its record to 13-2 on the campaign. The Hawks host Mascoma (Canaan, NH) to play the Royals in a non-league challenge on Monday, February 5. The Royals come into the challenge with a record of 7-6. Mascoma won 54-44 in their recent league challenge against Berlin (Berlin, NH)

Next up, the Tigers play the Conant Orioles (Jaffrey, NH) in a Division III challenge, on Tuesday, February 6. Newport will attempt to upgrade on its 4-14 season record.
