In Saturday's non-league match, the host Merkel Badgers softball team scored a tight 5-1 victory over the Forsan Buffaloes.

The Badgers (12-0) will now prepare for their match against Stamford (Stamford, TX). The Bulldogs go into the non-league match with a 0-3 record. In their last match, Stamford was routed by Alpine (Alpine, TX), 14-5, in a non-league game.

The Buffaloes now hold a 5-4 record. They play next when they travel to Midland Christian for a non-league game on Tuesday, February 24. Forsan will play a Mustangs squad coming off a 8-1 non-league win over Cooper (Abilene, TX). The Mustangs record now stands at 9-2.
