THE TORREY PINES FALCONS 2 MINUTES AWAY FROM THE TIME LIMIT ENDING THE GAME GAVE UP 2 RUNS IN THE LAST INNING AND THEN LOST THE GAME 9-7 TO CIFSDS # 5 OTAY RANCH IN THE SEMI-FINALS OF THE 40 TEAM COUGAR CLASSIC. TORREY PINES LED THE CONTEST 3-1 WITH 2 OUTS IN THE HOME 4TH INNING WITH 2 MINUTES REMAINING IN THE INNING BUT COULD NOT EXTEND THE FRAME AND OTAY RANCH HIT A CLUTCH LAST INNING HOME RUN TO TIE THE CONTEST. OTAY RANCH THEN SCORED 6 RUNS IN THE INTERNATIONAL TIE BREAKER'S 2ND FRAME AND THE FALCONS BATTLED BACK SCORING 4 BUT FELL JUST SHORT WITH THE WINNING RUN AT THE PLATE WITH 2 ON BASE. SENIORS KYRA CHAN AND EMMA FITZGERALD LED THE FALCON OFFENSE EACH GETTING 3 HITS. SOPHOMORE AVA FAGIN HIT A LONG SOLO HOME RUN OFF THE BEST PITCHER IN THE SD SECTION TO GIVE TORREY PINES AN EARLY 1-0 2ND INNING LEAD. TORREY PINES WILL HOST MT: CARMEL NEXT IN THE 1ST ROUND OF THE 2022 NORTH COUNTY TOURNAMENT.
