February 27, 2024: Chula Vista, CA 91913 Torrey Pines Falcons (San Diego, CA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Olympian Eagles (Chula Vista, CA), 7-1 in a non-league challenge.
The Falcons now own a 2-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Rancho Bernardo for a non-league challenge on Thursday, February 29. Torrey Pines will battle a Broncos squad coming off a 7-1 non-league win over Steele Canyon (Spring Valley, CA). The Broncos record now stands at 3-0.
With the loss, Olympian falls to 1-2 on the campaign. The Eagles travel to Cathedral Catholic (San Diego, CA) to battle the Dons in a non-league challenge on Thursday, February 29. McGinty shines in Circle to lead Falcons to Victory
Senior Right handed Pitcher Kathryn McGinty threw a complete game one hitter with nine strikeouts to lead the Torrey Pines Lady Falcons to a 7–1 victory over Olympian in the 40 team 2024 Cougar Classic classic at Kit Carson Park. McGinty’s no hit bid, was broken up by a lead off single in the sixth inning, but she finished the game, allowing no earned runs, and only one hit to improve her record to 2–0 on the year. Sophomore Kylee Farber hit a solo homer for the Falcons while fellow Sophomore Riley Cullivan added a three run bomb for the winners. Junior, Kelly Whelihan (Pacific) went 1-1 with two walks, a run scored and two stolen bases as Torrey Pines improved to 2-1 on the season.
