In Thursday's non-league game, the host St. John Paul II Catholic Lions baseball team scored a close 5-0 victory over the Anthem Prep Eagles.

The Lions (1-0) will now prepare for their game against Bourgade Catholic (Phoenix, AZ). The Golden Eagles enter the non-league game with a 1-3 record. In their last game, Bourgade Catholic was overwhelmed by Pima (Pima, AZ), 14-3, in a non-league game.
