Texas High School Baseball - Mercedes defeats Progreso
February 28, 2025: Mercedes, TX 78570 The Mercedes Tigers baseball team scored 7 runs and held the visiting Progreso Red Ants to 2 in the Tigers non-league win on Friday.
The Tigers now own a 1-4 record. They take the field next when they travel to Weslaco East for a 5A Region IV District 32 test on Tuesday, March 4. Mercedes will clash with a Wildcats team coming off a 19-3 non-league win over Juarez-Lincoln (La Joya, TX). The Wildcats record now stands at 4-2.
With the defeat, Progreso drops to 3-3 on the year. The Red ants travel to Grulla (Rio Grande City, TX) to clash with the Gators in a non-league test on Saturday, March 1. The Gators go into the test with a record of 0-2. Grulla lost 6-1 in their recent non-league test against Weslaco East (Weslaco, TX)
