Illinois High School Basketball - Taylorville holds off Mt. Vernon
February 4, 2023: Mt. Vernon, IL 62864 Fans at Saturday's non-league challenge between the Taylorville Tornadoes (Taylorville, IL) and the host Mt. Vernon Rams (Mt. Vernon, IL), saw Taylorville's basketball squad hold off Mt. Vernon by a tally of 59-54.
With the victory, Taylorville improves its record to 22-7 on the campaign. The Tornadoes travel to Lincoln (Lincoln, IL) to confront the Railsplitters in a Apollo challenge on Tuesday, February 7. The Railsplitters come into the challenge with a record of 28-0. Lincoln won 61-27 in their recent non-league challenge against Collinsville (Collinsville, IL)
Next up, the Rams confront the Cahokia Comanches (Cahokia, IL) in a South Seven challenge, on Monday, February 6. Mt. Vernon will attempt to improve on its 22-6 season record. The Comanches come into the challenge with a 5-12 record after their 51-12 non-league win over Confluence Prep Academy (St. Louis, MO).
