Connecticut High School Basketball - Smithfield sneaks past Fitch

February 8, 2025: Groton, CT 06340

The Smithfield Sentinels (Esmond, RI) basketball edged the host Fitch Falcons (Groton, CT), 55-50 in Saturday's non-league bout.

The Sentinels now possess a 6-13 record. They play next when they travel to Bishop Hendricken for a Division I bout on Monday, February 10. Smithfield will play a Hawks team coming off a 58-47 league win over Portsmouth (Portsmouth, RI). The Hawks record now stands at 12-6.

With the loss, Fitch falls to 12-6 on the campaign. The Falcons travel to St. Bernard (Uncasville, CT) to play the Saints in a Eastern Connecticut I bout on Tuesday, February 11. The Saints go into the bout with a record of 13-3. St. Bernard won 97-58 in their recent league bout against Windham (Willimantic, CT)
