Washington High School Softball - Ephrata bounces West Valley
March 14, 2024: Ephrata, WA 98823 Ephrata Tigers (Ephrata, WA) fans exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad achieve victory over the visiting West Valley Eagles (Spokane, WA), 13-3 in a non-league challenge.
The Tigers now sport a 1-0 record. They take the field next when they host Tahoma for a non-league challenge on Saturday, March 16. Ephrata will face a Bears squad coming off a 9-3 non-league win over Redmond (Redmond, WA). The Bears record now stands at 2-0.
With the loss, West Valley falls to 0-2 on the campaign. The Eagles host Riverside (Chattaroy, WA) to face the Rams in a non-league challenge on Monday, March 18. The Rams enter the challenge with a record of 0-1. Riverside lost 10-0 in their recent non-league challenge against Richland (Richland, WA)
Game Summary
West Valley got off to a strong start, scoring 3 runs in the top of the 1st inning. Ally VanWeerdhuisen then proceeded to baffle the Ephrata offense, carrying a no hitter into the bottom of the 4th inning. However, the Ephrata offense not only ruined the no-no, but they then proceeded to score 13 unanswered runs, including a walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the 6th inning.
