The Newhalen Malamutes routed the visiting Shishmaref Northern Lights basketball team by a final score of 61-39 in Friday's non-league game.

In their next game, the Malamutes face the Klawock Chieftains (Klawock, AK) in a non-league game, on Saturday, March 19. Newhalen will attempt to move on its 26-0 season record. The Chieftains enter the game with a 23-0 record after their 45-34 non-league win over Lumen Christi (Anchorage, AK).
