Washington High School Softball - Lakes bounces Steilacoom
March 18, 2024: Steilacoom, WA 98388 Spectators at Monday's non-league match between the Lakes Lancers (Lakewood, WA) and the host Steilacoom Sentinels (Steilacoom, WA), witnessed Lakes's softball squad prevail over Steilacoom by a count of 21-5.
The Lancers now sport a 1-1 record. They play next when they host Bonney Lake for a 3A Pierce County match on Tuesday, March 19. Lakes will face a Panthers squad coming off a 12-1 non-league win over Kentwood (Covington, WA). The Panthers record now stands at 3-0.
With the loss, Steilacoom moves to 0-1 on the season. The Sentinels travel to Franklin Pierce (Tacoma, WA) to face the Cardinals in a 2A South Puget Sound match on Wednesday, April 3. The Cardinals go into the match with a record of 3-0.

Lady Lancers won thanks in part to 11 runs in the first. Savanna Newville Doubled, scoring two runs in the first, Neveah Soto Doubled scoring 1 run, Stout singled, coring a run, Madison Vasquez Doubled and scored 1 run, Kylie Bailey Doubled , scoring a run, Allannah Martinez tripled, scoring 2 runs, Kaitlyn Vasquez singled, scoring a run, Soto also had a sacrifice for another run and Layni Newville singled 2 score the last run of the first inning. Lancers added to their lead in the 2nd Bailey Doubled, K. Vasquez tripled, S. Newville tripled and scored.
Lancers amassed 24 hits in the game Soto provided pop in the middle of lineup with 4 RBI's. K. Vasquez, Martinez, Stout, Bailey and Nafoa-Masoe, and M Vasquez all collected multiple hits. Multiple stolen bases for the Vasquez sisters as well as Martinez and Stout. The Lancers had 13 stolen bases on the day.
Stout was strong in the circle pitching a complete game win with 10 strikeouts.
