March 23, 2021: Crete, NE 68333 In Tuesday's non-league battle, the host Crete Cardinals soccer squad scored a close 3-0 triumph over the Lincoln Lutheran Warriors.
The Cardinals (2-0) will now prepare for their battle against Omaha South (Omaha, NE). The Packers come into the non-league battle with a 3-0 record. In their last battle, Omaha South nudged South Sioux City (South Sioux City, NE), 4-0, in a non-league battle.
The Warriors (0-3) will now prepare for their battle against Conestoga (Murray, NE). The Cougars come into the non-league battle with a 1-1 record. In their last battle, Conestoga by Bennington (Bennington, NE), 3-0, in a non-league battle.
Game Summary
Crete (1-0) hosted Lincoln Lutheran on Tuesday evening match up. Crete held onto the possession early, but was unable to break through the Lutheran defense until late in the first half off of a goal by Hermes Trujillo. AT halftime the score was 1-0 Crete. The second half was much like the first with Crete dominating possession, but not having too much to show for it on the scoreboard. Crete was able to get on the scoreboard again in the second half off of another goal by Trujillo. Crete added the final goal of the match about 15 minutes before the end of the game off of a Victor Tercero goal. "We played well, but did not start out attacking very well in the beginning of the game. Once we scored our first goal we were able to break the Lutheran defense apart a bit, but it was still a challenge, " said coach Spence.
