Missouri High School Baseball - Farmington defeats Central
March 24, 2021: Farmington, MO 63640 Farmington Knights (Farmington, MO) fans exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the visiting Central Tigers (Cape Girardeau, MO), 7-1 in a league test.
With the win, Farmington upgrades its record to 1-1 on the season. The Knights travel to Scott City (Scott City, MO) to battle the Rams in a non-league test on Friday, March 26. The Rams come into the test with a record of 1-0. Scott City won 15-6 in their recent non-league test against New Madrid County Central (New Madrid, MO)
With the defeat, Central falls to 0-3 on the season. The Tigers host Poplar Bluff (Poplar Bluff, MO) to battle the Mules in a Class 5 District 1 test on Saturday, March 27. The Mules come into the test with a record of 0-2.
Game Summary
Central Tigers Varsity fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 7-1 loss to Farmington on Wednesday. Farmington scored on a single by Jacob Jarvis in the first inning, a walk by Tyler Thebeau in the first inning, a single by Ayden Morgan in the first inning, a walk by Ryan Cooper in the first inning, and a double by Max McKinney in the second inning.
The Central Tigers Varsity struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Farmington, giving up seven runs.
Farmington fired up the offense in the first inning, when Jarvis singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
Jarvis was the winning pitcher for Farmington. The hurler lasted six innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out 12 and walking one. Justin Mattingly threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
