North Carolina High School Softball - R-S Central nudges Crest
March 30, 2023: Shelby, NC 28152 The crowd at Thursday's non-league match between the R-S Central Hilltoppers (Rutherfordton, NC) and the host Crest Chargers (Shelby, NC), saw R-S Central's softball squad nip Crest by a count of 3-2.
The Hilltoppers now sport a 10-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Patton for a Mountain Foothills Seven 2A match on Tuesday, April 4. R-S Central will face a Panthers squad coming off a 9-4 league win over Polk County (Columbus, NC). The Panthers record now stands at 6-4.
With the loss, Crest falls to 7-3 on the campaign. The Chargers travel to Forestview (Gastonia, NC) to face the Jaguars in a Big South 3A match on Friday, March 31. The Jaguars enter the match with a record of 6-3. Forestview won 13-4 in their recent non-league match against East Gaston (Mt. Holly, NC)
