The Freedom Patriots softball squad scored 11 runs and limited the host Avery County Vikings to 1 in the Patriots non-league triumph on Monday.

Next, the Patriots meet the North Iredell Raiders (Olin, NC) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, April 1. Freedom will attempt to upgrade on its 5-9 season record. The Raiders enter the challenge with a 4-5 record after their 7-5 league loss to Davie County (Mocksville, NC).

The Vikings (1-10) will now prepare for their challenge against Mountain Heritage (Burnsville, NC). The Cougars enter the Western Highlands 2A/3A challenge with a 2-4 record. In their last challenge, Mountain Heritage ran past Polk County (Columbus, NC), 12-2, in a league battle.
