March 7, 2022: Hudson, NC 28638 Spectators at Monday's non-league battle between the South Caldwell Spartans (Hudson, NC) and the visiting Hickory Red Tornadoes (Hickory, NC), saw South Caldwell's baseball squad edge Hickory by a count of 2-1.
Coming up next, the Spartans play the Tuscola Mountaineers (Waynesville, NC) in a non-league battle, on Wednesday, March 9. South Caldwell will attempt to move on its 2-2 season record. The Mountaineers enter the battle with a 0-3 record after their 5-2 non-league loss to North Buncombe (Weaverville, NC).
The Red Tornadoes now possess a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to North Lincoln for a Western Foothills 3A battle on Tuesday, March 15. Hickory will play a Knights squad coming off a 3-2 non-league win over North Gaston (Dallas, NC). The Knights record now stands at 4-0.
