The Independence Patriots baseball team scored 12 runs and held the host Mallard Creek Mavericks to 2 in the Patriots non-league win on Friday.

The Patriots now hold a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Charlotte Catholic for a Southwestern 4A test on Tuesday, March 11. Independence will play a Cougars team coming off a 3-2 league win over Providence (Charlotte, NC). The Cougars record now stands at 3-1.

With the defeat, Mallard Creek drops to 0-4 on the year. The Mavericks travel to West Charlotte (Charlotte, NC) to play the Lions in a Queen City 3A/4A test on Tuesday, March 11.
