Piper Pirates (Kansas City, KS) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Maize South Mavericks (Wichita, KS), 61-55 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Piper upgrades its record to 21-3 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Kapaun Mt. Carmel (Wichita, KS) to confront the Crusaders in a non-league battle on Saturday, March 9. The Crusaders come into the battle with a record of 21-3. Kapaun Mt. Carmel won 67-64 in their recent non-league battle against Highland Park (Topeka, KS)
