March 9, 2024: Elizabeth City, NC 27909 The crowd at Saturday's non-league test between the Smithfield-Selma Spartans (Smithfield, NC) and the host Northeastern Eagles (Elizabeth City, NC), saw Smithfield-Selma's soccer squad beat Northeastern by a count of 5-1.
The Spartans now hold a 2-2 record. They play next when they host South Johnston for a Quad County 3A test on Tuesday, March 12. Smithfield-Selma will meet a Trojans squad coming off a 6-0 non-league loss to North Johnston (Kenly, NC). The Trojans record now stands at 0-1.
With the loss, Northeastern drops to 1-1 on the season. The Eagles host First Flight (Kill Devil Hills, NC) to meet the Nighthawks in a Northeastern Coastal 2A/3A test on Monday, March 11. The Nighthawks come into the test with a record of 0-2. First Flight lost 3-1 in their recent non-league test against Hibriten (Lenoir, NC)
