Hickory Hornets (Hermitage, PA) supporters left the game thrilled Monday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting New Castle Hurricanes (New Castle, PA), 11-4 in a non-league game.

With the triumph, Hickory improves its record to 6-1 on the year. The Hornets travel to Titusville (Titusville, PA) to play the Rockets in a non-league game on Friday, April 17. The Rockets enter the game with a record of 2-4.

The Hurricanes now hold a 7-5 record. They play next when they travel to Mars for a non-league game on Wednesday, April 15. New Castle will play a Fightin' Planets squad coming off a 10-0 non-league loss to North Hills (Pittsburgh, PA). The Fightin' Planets record now stands at 2-8.
