Vandalia Vandals (Vandalia, IL) fans exited the stadium thrilled Friday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Southwestern Piasa Birds (Piasa, IL), 12-11 in a league challenge.

The Vandals now sport a 4-6 record. They take the field next when they travel to Pana for a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 15. Vandalia will face a Panthers squad coming off a 11-1 league win over Greenville (Greenville, IL). The Panthers record now stands at 4-7.

With the loss, Southwestern falls to 8-7 on the campaign. The Piasa birds host Metro-East Lutheran (Edwardsville, IL) to face the Knights in a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 15. The Knights enter the challenge with a record of 1-6.
