In Monday's non-league match, the visiting Fort Chiswell Pioneers softball team scored a tight 6-1 win over the Marion Scarlet Hurricanes.

The Pioneers (6-3) will now prepare for their match against Bland County (Rocky Gap, VA). The Bears come into the Mountain Empire match with a 1-8 record. In their last match, Bland County was routed by Narrows (Narrows, VA), 15-3, in a non-league match.
