Match Summary
The Lake Balboa Cougars had no reply to the offensive aplomb of the Canoga Park Hunters in a tough 3 game loss. The Cougars hit .000 in set 1 followed by a -.067 showing in set 2. The last set was a toughie with Lake Balboa holding a narrow 22-21 lead only to give ground at the finish. We hit .129 in set 3 & .021 for the match. That's not gonna' get it done. Lake Balboa's D had 54 digs to Canoga's 53. Cougar passers were only beaten 6 times but the Hunters only missed 3. Canoga's setter was smooth & ran their offense like a well oiled machine. LBCP was rung up for a staggering 9 ball handling errors. The Cougar offense had 22 smokers but it was pretty much neutralized by 20 hitting errors. In guys volleyball the emphasis is on hitting. Only blocking can stop hard hitting. You can't trade digs for spikes without some return fire of your own. As Duke Ellington might say "It don't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing!" Congrats to the victorious Hunters & their coach Jason Carbonell.
