Spectators at Thursday's non-league battle between the Merrillville Pirates (Merrillville, IN) and the host Wheeler Bearcats (Valparaiso, IN), saw Merrillville's baseball squad beat Wheeler by a margin of 2-0.

Coming up next, the Pirates play the Hammond Central Wolves (Hammond, IN) in a non-league battle, on Monday, April 24. Merrillville will attempt to better on its 1-11 season record. The Wolves enter the battle with a 4-4 record after their 11-1 non-league loss to Highland (Highland, IN).
