Pennsylvania High School Lacrosse - Springfield overwhelms Cardinal Gibbons
April 22, 2025: Springfield, PA 19064 In Tuesday's non-league contest, the host Springfield Cougars lacrosse squad scored a tight 14-7 triumph over the Cardinal Gibbons Crusaders.
The Cougars (12-1) will now prepare for their contest against Conestoga (Berwyn, PA). The Pioneers go into the Central contest with a 4-4 record.
Next, the Crusaders meet the Marple Newtown Fightin' Tigers (Newtown Square, PA) in a non-league contest, on Wednesday, April 23. Cardinal Gibbons will attempt to better on its 14-2 season record. The Fightin' Tigers go into the contest with a 4-1 record after their 7-6 league win over Penncrest (Media, PA).
Game Summary
As the Cougars returned home from New York, they welcomed the #1 team in North Carolina, Cardinal Gibbons High School into town. After Cardinal Gibbons got off to the early lead, Springfield bounced back with 3 of their own in the 1st. In the 2nd CG scored early again cutting the lead to 1 before Jr Brad Barber, Sn Pat Flaherty, and Fr Mason Ellis all tacked onto the lead giving them a 6-2 lead going into the Half. The Cougars tallied 5 straight in the 3rd and start of the 4th quarter before Cardinal Gibbons scored 3 straight. To round out the 4th Quarter Jr Luke Valerio scored his 1st of the game and Barber scored his 3rd leading Springfield to the 14-7 victory.
