Illinois High School Softball - Mt. Vernon nudges Murphysboro
April 24, 2024: Murphysboro, IL 62966 Mt. Vernon Rams (Mt. Vernon, IL) backers exited the stadium thrilled Wednesday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Murphysboro Red Devils (Murphysboro, IL), 4-3 in a non-league challenge.
The Rams now own a 10-11 record. They take the field next when they travel to Cahokia for a South Seven challenge on Thursday, April 25. Mt. Vernon will face a Comanches squad coming off a 18-3 non-league loss to East St. Louis (East St. Louis, IL). The Comanches record now stands at 0-14.
With the loss, Murphysboro falls to 16-7 on the campaign. The Red devils travel to Chester (Chester, IL) to face the Yellowjackets in a non-league challenge on Monday, April 29. The Yellowjackets enter the challenge with a record of 9-8.
