In Saturday's non-league match, the host Independence Patriots softball team scored a nice 9-1 win over the Mingo Central Miners.

The Patriots (16-7) will now prepare for their match against Liberty (Glen Daniel, WV). The Raiders come into the non-league match with a 10-6 record. In their last match, Liberty notched a victory over Midland Trail (Hico, WV), 4-2, in a league match.

In their next game, the Miners battle the Tolsia Rebels (Fort Gay, WV) in a non-league match, on Monday, April 28. Mingo Central will attempt to better on its 4-7 season record. The Rebels come into the match with a 9-8 record after their 14-5 league win over Van (Van, WV).
