The Watkins Memorial Warriors overwhelmed the visiting Newark Catholic Green Wave softball squad by a count of 8-1 in Wednesday's league challenge.

Next, the Warriors meet the Licking Heights Hornets (Pataskala, OH) in a Licking County challenge, on Thursday, May 1. Watkins Memorial will attempt to upgrade on its 12-7 season record. The Hornets go into the challenge with a 11-8 record after their 7-1 league win over Johnstown-Monroe (Johnstown, OH).

The Green Wave (5-11) will now prepare for their challenge against Bishop Hartley (Columbus, OH). The Hawks go into the non-league challenge with a 12-4 record. In their last challenge, Bishop Hartley was routed by Upper Arlington (Columbus, OH), 9-2, in a non-league challenge.
