The Shiprock Chieftains softball team scored 22 runs and held the host Newcomb Skyhawks to 3 in the Chieftains non-league win on Wednesday.

The Chieftains now sport a 7-16 record. They put it on the line next when they host Kirtland Central for a 4A District 1 battle on Thursday, May 1. Shiprock will confront a Broncos team coming off a 7-0 league win over Aztec (Aztec, NM). The Broncos record now stands at 13-12.

With the loss, Newcomb moves to 6-18 on the season. The Skyhawks travel to Tohatchi (Tohatchi, NM) to confront the Cougars in a 3A District 1 battle on Thursday, May 1. The Cougars come into the battle with a record of 10-11. Tohatchi won 12-11 in their recent league battle against Wingate (Fort Wingate, NM)
