Virginia High School Softball - Gate City bounces Elizabethton
April 4, 2023: Gate City, VA 24251 The crowd at Tuesday's non-league match between the Gate City Blue Devils (Gate City, VA) and the visiting Elizabethton Fighting Cyclones (Elizabethton, TN), saw Gate City's softball squad nip Elizabethton by a count of 9-2.
The Blue Devils now sport a 6-2 record. They take the field next when they host John Battle for a Mountain 7 match on Thursday, April 6. Gate City will face a Trojans squad coming off a 7-6 non-league loss to Virginia High (Bristol, VA). The Trojans record now stands at 1-4.
With the loss, Elizabethton falls to 11-2 on the campaign. The Fighting cyclones host Sullivan East (Bluff City, TN) to face the Patriots in a 3A District 1 match on Thursday, April 6. The Patriots enter the match with a record of 2-12. Sullivan East lost 4-3 in their recent non-league match against West Ridge (Blountville, TN)
