The Northern Guilford Nighthawks (Greensboro, NC) softball nipped the visiting Independence Patriots (Charlotte, NC), 6-5 in Tuesday's non-league bout.

The Nighthawks (19-5) will now prepare for their bout against Marvin Ridge (Waxhaw, NC). The Mavericks go into the non-league bout with a 17-2 record. In their last bout, Marvin Ridge held off Porter Ridge (Indian Trail, NC), 6-1, in a non-league bout.
