The Monticello Sages baseball team scored 7 runs and held the visiting Clinton Maroons to 2 in the Sages non-league win on Wednesday.

The Sages now hold a 28-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Champaign Central for a non-league test on Thursday, May 14. Monticello will play a Maroons team coming off a 12-2 league win over Bloomington (Bloomington, IL). The Maroons record now stands at 22-6.

With the defeat, Clinton drops to 16-12 on the year. The Maroons host Meridian (Macon, IL) to play the Hawks in a Central Illinois test on Friday, May 15. The Hawks go into the test with a record of 7-17. Meridian lost 4-3 in their recent non-league test against Okaw Valley (Bethany, IL)
