Indiana High School Baseball - Triton Central prevails Oldenburg Academy
May 15, 2023: Oldenburg, IN 47036 Triton Central Tigers (Fairland, IN) fans exited the stadium thrilled Monday as they observed their baseball squad overcome the host Oldenburg Academy Twisters (Oldenburg, IN), 11-2 in a non-league test.
With the win, Triton Central upgrades its record to 11-11 on the season. The Tigers host Indianapolis Lutheran (Indianapolis, IN) to battle the Saints in a Indiana Crossroads test on Tuesday, May 16. The Saints come into the test with a record of 13-9. Indianapolis Lutheran lost 7-5 in their recent non-league test against Covenant Christian (Indianapolis, IN)
With the defeat, Oldenburg Academy falls to 7-10 on the season. The Twisters travel to Edinburgh (Edinburgh, IN) to battle the Lancers in a non-league test on Tuesday, May 16. The Lancers come into the test with a record of 3-19. Edinburgh lost 7-4 in their recent league test against Waldron (Waldron, IN)
Game Summary
The Twisters couldn't extend their win streak to 3 games as they fell to the Tigers of Triton Central Monday night with a score of 11-2. "We had our opportunities early in the game and we just couldn't capitalize. We had the bases loaded twice early in the game and left them loaded to end the inning. Just timely hitting." Coach Kolks said.
Triton Central got things moving in the second inning, when Bryce Haney doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.
Triton Central scored four runs in the fifth inning. Triton Central offense in the inning was led by Avynn Whitaker, Nick Riggins, and Cole Thomas, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Hayden Beaver was the winning pitcher for Triton Central. Beaver lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out one. Blaine Raider and Whitaker entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Jacob Stenger took the loss for the Twisters. Stenger lasted f
