May 30, 2025: Newton, IL 62448 The Newton Eagles (Newton, IL) softball nipped the visiting Columbia Eagles (Columbia, IL), 1-0 in Friday's non-league outing.
The Eagles now sport a 26-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Carterville for a non-league outing on Monday, June 2. Newton will encounter a Lions team coming off a 4-1 non-league win over Anna-Jonesboro (Anna, IL). The Lions record now stands at 27-4.
With the loss, Columbia moves to 24-6 on the season.
