North Carolina High School Soccer - George Wythe knocks off Mount Airy
May 5, 2025: Mount Airy, NC 27030 Fans at Monday's non-league battle between the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) and the host Mount Airy Granite Bears (Mount Airy, NC), saw George Wythe's soccer squad triumph over Mount Airy by a count of 9-0.
The Maroons (5-4) will now prepare for their battle against Honaker (Honaker, VA). The Tigers enter the non-league battle with a 6-4 record. In their last battle, Honaker was overwhelmed by Central Wise (Norton, VA), 4-1, in a non-league match.
The Granite Bears now sport a 1-14 record. They take the field next when they host South Stokes for a Northwest 1A match on Tuesday, May 6. Mount Airy will meet a Sauras team coming off a 2-1 league win over Alleghany (Sparta, NC). The Sauras record now stands at 9-9.
