In Monday's non-league outing, the visiting Hickory Hornets softball team scored a close 4-2 win over the McDowell Trojans.

Coming up next, the Hornets encounter the Slippery Rock Rockets (Slippery Rock, PA) in a District 10 Region 4 outing, on Tuesday, May 7. Hickory will attempt to improve on its 8-6 season record. The Rockets enter the outing with a 4-8 record after their 13-4 league loss to Jamestown (Jamestown, PA).
