Union Area Scotties (New Castle, PA) supporters left the game thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad topple the host Mars Fightin' Planets (Mars, PA), 17-0 in a non-league game.

With the triumph, Union Area improves its record to 16-1 on the year. The Scotties travel to Chartiers-Houston (Houston, PA) to face the Buccaneers in a non-league game on Wednesday, May 7. The Buccaneers enter the game with a record of 16-1. Chartiers-Houston won 11-2 in their recent non-league game against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (Coraopolis, PA)

The Fightin' Planets now hold a 3-16 record. They play next when they travel to Montour for a non-league game on Wednesday, May 7. Mars will face a Spartans squad coming off a 14-7 league loss to West Allegheny (Imperial, PA). The Spartans record now stands at 2-11.
