May 8, 2023: Westport, CT 06880 Spectators at Monday's league match between the Staples Wreckers (Westport, CT) and the visiting Bridgeport Central Hilltoppers (Bridgeport, CT), witnessed Staples's softball squad prevail over Bridgeport Central by a count of 17-1.
The Wreckers now sport a 7-8 record. They play next when they host St. Joseph for a Fairfield County match on Wednesday, May 10. Staples will face a Cadets squad coming off a 6-1 league win over Trumbull (Trumbull, CT). The Cadets record now stands at 12-4.
With the loss, Bridgeport Central moves to 1-14 on the season. The Hilltoppers host Danbury (Danbury, CT) to face the Hatters in a Fairfield County match on Wednesday, May 10.
