May 8, 2025: Vinton, IA 52349 The Mt. Vernon Mustangs soccer squad scored 2 points and held the host Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings to 0 in the Mustangs non-league victory on Thursday.
The Mustangs now possess a 6-5 record. They play next when they travel to Solon for a WaMaC-East bout on Saturday, May 10. Mt. Vernon will play a Spartans squad coming off a 3-0 league loss to Marion (Marion, IA). The Spartans record now stands at 6-12.
With the loss, Vinton-Shellsburg moves to 2-13 on the year. The Vikings host Springville (Springville, IA) to play the Orioles in a non-league bout on Thursday, May 8. The Orioles go into the bout with a record of 5-4. Springville won 6-0 in their recent non-league bout against Independence (Independence, IA)
