Western Panthers (Russiaville, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Tuesday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Pioneer Panthers (Royal Center, IN), 9-2 in a non-league challenge.

The Panthers now own a 22-0 record. They take the field next when they host West Lafayette for a non-league challenge on Friday, May 12. Western will battle a Red Devils squad coming off a 15-7 non-league win over Tri-County (Wolcott, IN). The Red Devils record now stands at 16-5.

With the loss, Pioneer falls to 14-9 on the campaign. The Panthers host West Central (Francesville, IN) to battle the Trojans in a non-league challenge on Thursday, May 11. The Trojans enter the challenge with a record of 15-7. West Central lost 4-1 in their recent non-league challenge against Knox (Knox, IN)
