Iowa High School Softball - Mt. Vernon nudges Nevada
June 15, 2024: Mt. Vernon, IA 52314 Mt. Vernon Mustangs (Mt. Vernon, IA) backers exited the stadium thrilled Saturday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Nevada Cubs (Nevada, IA), 3-2 in a non-league challenge.
The Mustangs now own a 20-7 record. They take the field next when they host Vinton-Shellsburg for a non-league challenge on Monday, June 17. Mt. Vernon will face a Vikings squad coming off a 11-1 non-league loss to West Delaware (Manchester, IA). The Vikings record now stands at 7-16.
With the loss, Nevada falls to 5-16 on the campaign. The Cubs host Greene County (Jefferson, IA) to face the Rams in a non-league challenge on Monday, June 17. The Rams enter the challenge with a record of 4-12. Greene County lost 13-3 in their recent non-league challenge against Ogden (Ogden, IA)
