Iowa High School Softball - Newell-Fonda can't get by Charles City
June 20, 2025: Newell, IA 50568 Charles City Comets (Charles City, IA) supporters left the game pleased Friday as they saw their softball squad nudge the host Newell-Fonda Mustangs (Newell, IA), 8-7 in a non-league game.
With the triumph, Charles City improves its record to 9-8 on the year. The Comets travel to New Hampton (New Hampton, IA) to play the Chickasaws in a Northeast Iowa game on Tuesday, June 24. The Chickasaws enter the game with a record of 8-7. New Hampton lost 8-0 in their recent league game against Decorah-North Winneshiek (Decorah, IA)
The Mustangs now hold a 15-7 record. They play next when they host Mid-Prairie for a non-league game on Saturday, June 21. Newell-Fonda will play a Golden Hawks squad coming off a 12-4 non-league loss to Williamsburg (Williamsburg, IA). The Golden Hawks record now stands at 4-7.
