Iowa High School Softball - Humboldt nudges Newell-Fonda
June 29, 2023: Newell, IA 50568 The crowd at Thursday's non-league match between the Humboldt Wildcats (Humboldt, IA) and the host Newell-Fonda Mustangs (Newell, IA), saw Humboldt's softball squad nip Newell-Fonda by a count of 7-6.
The Wildcats now sport a 16-10 record. They take the field next when they host Iowa Falls-Alden for a non-league match on Friday, June 30. Humboldt will face a Cadets squad coming off a 12-0 non-league loss to Webster City (Webster City, IA). The Cadets record now stands at 2-17.
With the loss, Newell-Fonda falls to 25-8 on the campaign. The Mustangs travel to Coon Rapids-Bayard (Coon Rapids, IA) to face the Crusaders in a non-league match on Wednesday, July 5. The Crusaders enter the match with a record of 10-12. Coon Rapids-Bayard won 9-1 in their recent non-league match against Ar-We-Va (Westside, IA)
